One of the largest Chinese electronics manufacturers has developed a hybrid crossover, which will be produced under the AITO brand.
Telecommunications equipment manufacturer Huawei has unveiled a new automotive project – the AITO brand, created in conjunction with the Chinese company Seres. The first car of the new brand was the M5 crossover with a hybrid power plant, Autohome reports.
AITO M5, the length of which was 4770 mm, and the size of the wheelbase – 2880 mm, in its dimensions turned out to be close to the Tesla Model Y. The crossover was created on the basis of the Seres SF5 model, which debuted two years ago, but at the same time has a different body, interior and electronics developed from scratch with the participation of Huawei.
For example, the cabin has a huge 15.6-inch touchscreen display of an infotainment complex with Huawei’s proprietary Harmony OS firmware compatible with Android applications.
Technically, the car is a classic sequential hybrid – electric motors are responsible for traction, and a 1.5-liter 125-horsepower gasoline turbo unit works exclusively as a generator to recharge batteries on the go.
The basic modification of the AITO M5 is equipped with two electric motors (one on each axle), developing a total of 428 horsepower. The output of the units of the top Performance variant has been increased to 496 forces. Such a car is capable of accelerating to “hundreds” in 4.4 seconds, and the declared fuel consumption in the combined cycle is 0.8 liters per 100 km of run.
The equipment of the crossover includes adaptive diode optics, all-round cameras, modern active assistance systems, a panoramic roof and seats with massage and ventilation functions.
In China, sales of the new AITO M5 will begin in the first half of 2022. Prices for the hybrid crossover will start at 250,000 yuan (approximately 67,000 manats at the current exchange rate).
