Ford has introduced a hybrid version of the Ranger pickup truck, the brand’s press service said in a statement. This is the first version in the history of the model with a gasoline-electric power plant.
Externally, the car is practically no different from the standard version. You can recognize it by the charging connector, which is located on the rear fender, as well as by the new design of the rims. Another feature is the Pro Power system, its essence is that there are special sockets in the car body with which you can power any tool or device.
The main changes are in the technical part. The powertrain is powered by a 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbo engine, which works together with an electric motor and a small battery. The company has not yet provided detailed specifications, but notes that such a pickup truck is capable of covering up to 45 km on a single charge.
So far, the hybrid Ford Ranger has been announced only for the European market. There is no information about the dates of appearance of this modification in North America. Production of the car will begin in the first months of 2024, and the start of sales is scheduled for early 2025.
