A Completely Different Nissan Pathfinder Goes Into Production

Serial assembly of the Nissan Pathfinder has begun in China, but of a different type. The new model, which will go on sale in China in 2024, is radically different from the familiar Pathfinder: it has a different body, engine, exterior and interior design, and is produced by the Dongfeng-Nissan joint venture.

The Chinese Nissan Pathfinder is larger than the model of the same name in the USA, while the number of seats for crossovers is the same – there are seven of them according to the 2+2+3 scheme. Later there will be a six-seater option.

If the American Pathfinder has a combination of a 3.5-liter V6 and a nine-speed automatic transmission, then the Chinese “namesake” has a 2.0-liter engine under the hood that develops 252 horsepower – a similar unit is installed on the Infiniti QX60 for the Chinese market. It works with a CVT, and the drive can be either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
