Kia has published photos of another Sportage – now for the Chinese market. In the Celestial Empire, the crossover will by default come with an “off-road” decor and a 2.0 petrol turbo engine with a capacity of 236 horsepower. But otherwise, the car will not differ much from those cars that are sold in America, Korea, Australia and Russia.
The current Kia Sportage (NQ5) has been in production since 2021 and is sold with different powertrains in different countries. In the engine range of the South Korean and European Sportage there is a 1.6 T-GDI turbo engine (180 forces and 265 Nm), 1.6 and 2.0 diesels (115, 136 and 186 forces) and hybrid installations based on the 1.6 Smartstream engine, but the American crossover is only supposed to be “aspirated” 2.5 with a return of 190 forces.
In China, the Sportage will be available with a 2.0 petrol turbo four that produces 236 horses, and the model is just getting ready to enter the market. Judging by the photographs, the long-wheelbase Sportage is intended for the PRC, as in America, Korea, Australia and Russia.
The cars have the same wheelbase, but the dimensions differ slightly. By default, the Celestial version will come with an “off-road” decor, so it looks like an American Sportage X-Pro in the pictures).
By the way, in 2021, sales of the Kia Sportage Ace, which uses the third-generation crossover platform, started in China. The previous “fourth” off-road vehicle is sold on the local market under the name KX5, and it differs from the model we are used to with a completely redesigned front end. But the fifth generation car gives out under its original name.
