The German company BMW showed an extended version of the X5 crossover. In February 2023, BMW updated the X5 and X6 crossovers for the global market, and in August it was the turn of the model for Chinese customers. The restyling affected the BMW X5, which is produced at the Dadong plant of the BMW Brilliance Automotive joint venture in Shenyang. The car has changed in the same way as global modifications, but there is a nuance – in China, a crossover is available exclusively in a version with an increased wheelbase. The crossover is only available with two petrol engines with a 48-volt hybrid system.
The X5 stretched out by 130 millimeters – all the increase in length went to increase space for rear passengers. The crossover received elongated rear doors and special second-row seats, which increase the convenience of boarding and disembarking, as well as driving comfort.
The BMW X5 xDrive30Li is powered by a 258-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit, while the BMW X5 xDrive40Li has a 380-horsepower 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine – mated to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and xDrive all-wheel drive.
The visually updated model can be identified by narrower headlights, an X-shaped lamp pattern, as well as an illuminated Iconic Glow grille, which is already included in the basic equipment of the crossover along with the M Sport package. The BMW Live Cockpit Plus instrument panel appeared in the cabin, combining a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a multimedia system with a 14.9-inch touchscreen into a single unit.
