The American division of Volkswagen presented the Jetta sedan 2025 model year: it now looks different, new options have appeared, and a manual transmission is now available only for the “charged” modification with the GLI prefix. Let’s figure out what other changes have occurred with the main competitor of the Hyundai Elantra, Nissan Sentra and Kia Cerato.
Volkswagen did not drag its feet and immediately introduced both the regular Jetta and the Jetta GLI. The sedan has been transformed with a new radiator grille, a modernized bumper group, updated headlights and lanterns. In addition, Americans will be offered an expanded palette of body colors and 17- or 18-inch wheels of a new design. In general, Jetta began to look more modern and stricter. Well, the “sporty” GLI version differs from the standard four-door in its grille pattern, red decorative inserts and red brake calipers.
Inside, the front panel architecture has been revised. The multimedia system screen is located differently (in basic versions it is now eight inches instead of the previous 6.5 inches) and touch buttons for controlling the climate control system have appeared. The Jetta GLI features red double stitching.
The range of engine specifications for the North American market remains the same. The base engine is a 1.5-liter turbo-four developing 160 horsepower, which now works in conjunction exclusively with the DSG robot. The “charged” Jetta GLI is equipped with a 231-horsepower 2.0-liter supercharged unit, and in addition to DSG, it can also be combined with a six-speed manual transmission. The Jetta has only front-wheel drive.
