Ford will introduce an affordable compact electric car in 2027. The company’s CEO Jim Farley said that he plans to release an electric car for 30 thousand dollars, writes CNBC. But the low price will mean compactness, he warned: customers will need to “fall back in love” with small cars. The new product will begin to make a profit two and a half years after its debut, expects Ford, which is now losing money on every “green” car.
Farley noted that it is very important for the company to begin producing profitable electric cars within the next five years. This is the only way Ford will be able to resist the Chinese, who are strengthening their position in the global car market. There are currently three models in Ford’s green lineup in the US: the Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning and E-Transit.
