Cadillac has improved the CT5 sedan. The CT5 model, which replaced the CTS four years ago, has been updated – the premiere took place at the Detroit Auto Show. The sedan entered the 2025 model year with a number of improvements, including a huge 33-inch screen on the front panel, combining digital instrumentation and a touchscreen multimedia system. Despite the fact that the debut location of the updated CT5 was Detroit, China remains the main market for the model.
With the update, the CT5 has been transformed on the outside: the previously laconic front design has become more striking due to complex front optics in the style of Chinese cars. The main change in the cabin is the appearance of a single digital console with a diagonal of 33 inches, and the functions of the multimedia system can be controlled not only from the screen, but using a rotary pressure washer on the central tunnel. Cadillac notes that the work of electronic assistants has been improved, built-in Google services and a 5G Wi-Fi router have appeared.
But under the hood everything is the same. In the version for the US market, the sedan is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo engine with 240 horsepower and a 340-horsepower three-liter turbo-six. The gearbox is a ten-speed automatic, the drive is rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. It is unknown whether there will be changes in the engine range of the “Chinese” CT5. The “charged” CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing have not yet been presented.
The Cadillac CT5 for the USA is produced at the General Motors plant in Michigan, and the local version of the model for the Chinese market is produced at the facilities of the SAIC-GM joint venture. In America, the new product will go on sale next spring as a 2025 model; prices have not yet been announced.
