BYD is preparing to launch the Frigate 07 hybrid crossover, also known as the Corvette 07, on the market. Its prototype was shown last year under the name X Dream. Later, pictures of the serial version appeared in the database of the local Ministry of Industry, and spies published pictures of the camouflaged interior. Now, the car, similar in size to the Kia Sorento, has been completely declassified – including the characteristics of the power plant and range.
The BYD Frigate 07 (or Huweijian in Chinese) in the Warship line will join the Destroyer sedan (“Destroyer”), the Cruiser crossover (“Cruiser”) and the Landing Ship compact van (“Landing Ship”). Moreover, according to Autoreview, the manufacturer plans several Frigates at once, and the 07th will be the largest of them.
The crossover received a raised window sill line, a plastic body kit around the perimeter and a large radiator grille with a cascade of running lights on the sides. Door handles are hidden in the body, the dimension of the rims is 19 inches already in the “base”.
Inside, there is a digital instrument panel and a 15.6-inch multimedia system display. The latter is equipped with a rotary mechanism: it can be rotated, changing the orientation from horizontal to vertical and vice versa. Another unusual solution is rounded door handles.
BYD Frigate 07 will be offered with two powertrain options – DM-i (Dual Mode intelligent) and DM-p (Dual Mode performance). In the basic version, the Frigate 07 is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 139 horsepower and one 197-horsepower electric motor on the front axle, in this case the front-wheel drive.
The more powerful DM-p is complemented by another electric motor at the rear, delivering 204 horsepower. The total output of such an installation reaches 401 forces. Electric motors operate at low speed, and the internal combustion engine plays the role of a generator to recharge the battery. It connects to the front wheels only at high speeds.
The all-wheel drive version spends 4.7 seconds to accelerate from standstill to 100 kilometers per hour, and the maximum speed of the crossover in both versions is 180 kilometers per hour. The Blade’s lithium-iron-phosphate battery provides about 200 kilometers of travel on electricity alone.
BYD has already put Frigate 07 on the conveyor, and therefore sales in China should start soon. It is expected that it will cost from 220 thousand to 280 thousand yuan.
Last week, BYD launched sales of the D1 electric car, created specifically for taxi drivers in conjunction with the DiDi aggregator. The interior of the car, designed for frequent trips, is trimmed with wear-resistant leatherette, on the right there is a sliding door for ease of landing. The D1 also received an impressive traction battery warranty of eight years or 150,000 kilometers.
