BMW has turned the Z4 into an exclusive two-seat station wagon

BMW has transformed the Z4 Roadster into a unique two-seater sports wagon. BMW chief designer Adrian van Hooydonk kept his promise and presented the new German brand sports car on Lake Como. In 2023, Europe’s most prestigious classic car event, the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, hosted the presentation of the BMW Concept Touring Coupe. The elegant show car made its debut at the historic residence of Cardinal Ippolito II in the entourage of the palace and adjacent gardens on Lake Como.

The new model completes the line of Hommage concept cars, which are a modern interpretation of classic BMW cars. The company positions the double wagon as “an eternal symbol of freedom and the joy of traveling together on four wheels.” The look of the novelty is inspired by the BMW 328 Touring Coupe, which won the Mille Miglia endurance race in 1940, as well as the BMW 02 Series of the 1970s.

The Concept Touring Coupe is painted in Sparkling Lario, a taupe hue with blue glass flakes, giving an impression of depth that is complemented by silver-bronze accents and a custom-designed dual-stripe grille for the prototype. The exterior is also formed by exclusive wheels – 20 inches in front and 21 inches in the rear – with 20 golden spokes.

The interior of the wagon has not changed much, although it received a new finish. The interior is upholstered in leather from the Italian workshop Poltrona Frau: a dark brown shade is used in the upper part of the cabin, and light brown in the lower part. Perforated elements and woven leather straps appeared on the seats.

The luggage compartment is also completely trimmed with expensive leather, and the Schedoni leather workshop from Modena has released a set of accessories for the car. The set includes two large and one small weekend bags, as well as clothing bags, each of which matches perfectly with the BMW Concept Touring Coupe. Specifications for the station wagon were not released, but the brand noted that the concept is “powered by a signature six-cylinder inline engine.”
